Occupational injuries and illness impose an economic cost on workers and their families, employers and on Government. But how great is this cost and how is it distributed between these groups in society? The Health and Safety Executive's Costs to Britain model provides a framework for estimating these costs based on self-reported cases of workplace injury and work-related ill health , and reported workplace fatalities. Providing a breakdown of a range of monetised costs, financial and non-financial, this research enables estimation of both headline costs and per case 'appraisal values'.
