This week's AAGP speaker is Dr Ben Kilhams from Shell.

This talk will give a short introduction to the hydrocarbon geology of the Netherlands and Germany, show some examples of big and small hydrocarbon fields, describe historic discoveries and the public perception when things went wrong. There has been a big shift in planned projects to geothermal projects in the Netherlands – but what is geothermal?

The talk will explain, show examples of successful projects and an examples that didn’t go so well. The main aim is to describe a shift in the attitudes of the public and what this means for our careers as petroleum geologists.
